So, now that Sigils aren't the big-money sellers...
What else could we come up with to sell for 100k? I wonder if any PvP'ers (if you are reading this, please post an opinion) would pay 100k for 1 unidentified gold salvage item. I might have to give it a shot. I'll bet some PvP'er somewhere hates farming enough and has sold enough sigils at high-enough prices to fork over 100k for a shot at a Superior Rune Unlock.

Reason: Changed title... forgot "sinks" remove money from the system entirely.

Why must the money sinks go for the top amount of gold any one player can carry at a time? What does anyone need with more than that much gold anyway?
There really isn't much to buy other than armor, but PvP players don't have to worry about that at all...
So, why do people need to think of new ways to suck as much gold out of people as possible?

Actually, Sigils never were a gold sink. A gold sink takes gold out of the game completely. The purpose of a gold sink is to keep gold rare and slow inflation. Sigil trading just moves gold from one player to another and as such will not do anything to curb inflation.

Well, I figure that Sigils were the fashionable item to completely price-gouge and alienate those who could not get them... why not jump on the next money-making bandwagon?

well, pvp'ers can probably find runes faster than they can farm gold or sell sigils for gold.
but i would like anet to put in real money sinks, be it luxury items for guild halls or buying skill points...well, one can dream.

Me too... even something as silly as hairstyles, tattoos, etc.. What I think would be cool would be to allow people to "buy" the houses that are in Guild Halls (subject to Guild Leader approval, of course) and thereby have a money sink by remodeling, accesorizing, maybe get some pets, anything to make use of it.

I still think that selling unidentified, rare armors in town for 10-15k would be an amazing money sink. As has been stated, sigils were never a money sink, as they simply transferred wealth between players.
If you want an item that'll sell for 100k, Superior Vigors should be there very soon if they aren't already.
Peace,
-CxE

a lot of people suggest the ideas in this thread - to be able to change your appearance whenever you want to - could be a money sink
of course it wouldn't be a 100k money sink, but since it would be a lot cheaper, then many more masses of people will put money into it hence it is still good at being a money sink
